The Power of Collaborative Superstars

This is what teams are made of.

The Spire Stack

Spire is not a company with an org-chart. Every team member works in a critical area of the business that supports the customer so it’s only natural to structure the company in that way. It is crucial to the customer that all parts of the Spire Stack work in unison and complete their goals.

Customer

The customer sits above all else in the Spire stack. Data, which originates at the payload, flows through each unit on the way up the stack.

BMSS

The Business, Marketing, Sales, and Support unit is responsible for the acquisition and support of our customers.

Product (AIS)

The Product team is responsible for discovering, implementing, and supporting product improvements. They work with teams from across the entire stack.

Product (RO)

The Product team is responsible for discovering, implementing, and supporting product improvements. They work with teams from across the entire stack.

Data Services

Data Services team members are responsible for the delivery of Spire's data to the customer. That includes development and maintenance of APIs and value-adding features.

SatOps

Satellite Operations "flies" the satellites from a cloud-based mission control that was built in-house at Spire.

Ground Stations

The Ground Stations team logs many frequent flier miles installing and upgrading ground stations around the world. They ensure that our satellites have low data latency.

Satellite Launch

Satellite Launch is the unit that books Spire's launches and helps usher Spire satellites along the launch process.

CCS

Command and Control (CCS) is what allows SatOps to reliably fly the satellites. There is both a ground component and a satellite component to command and control.

Manufacturing

The Manufacturing team is responsible for building Spire's satellites. They work nearly around the clock on up to eight satellites at once.

RF Qual

RF Quality is responsible for making sure the communications link that keeps our satellites in contact with their operators is always operating at peak quality.

Comms

The Comms unit designs the communications components of our satellites. It can be everything from software to antenna design to radio development.

Satellite

Spire's Satellite unit produces the core hardware and software that operates each satellite. They ensure that the satellite will stabilize itself in orbit, be able to take upgrades, and operate in the harsh space environment.

Payload

The Payload unit designs and integrates the data collection components of Spire's satellites.

PR/Brand

The Public Relations and Brand team handles external communications, all components of design (from interior design of the office to every powerpoint presentation), and the overall branding of Spire.

Talent

The Talent unit makes sure that we always have the right people for the job no matter which office they're needed in.

Office Management

The Office Management and Facilities team makes sure that every Spire team member has what they need (including the right environment) to get the job done.

IT

The IT team ensures that all teams - not matter which office - stay well connected.

Legal

They never said that space was easy. Spire's Legal unit has unique challenges created by operating a startup in a regulatory environment that was mostly designed for governments.

Finance

Finance at Spire is more than keeping track of the books. With four offices (three currencies) and satellites that must be properly valued, they're heavily involved in day-to-day operations.

Supply Chain

Spire has vendors from countries across the entire world. Supply chain works with manufacturing and launch to anticipate the needs of our team members and satellite engineers.

DevOps

Development Operations works closely with IT and heavily with automation to make the work of every engineer easier and the roll out of new ground stations and satellites faster.

Our coaches & Captains

Leadership isn’t limited to managers. It can be found in technical leadership (like Spire’s technical architects) or in a launch manager who builds the single best launch schedule in history. Spire’s coaches and captains are each responsible for their part of the stack and to keep data and communications flowing.
