As the Technical Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to define and develop the systems used to manufacture and test spacecraft. You will operate in a fast-paced project environment, leading a highly-skilled and multi-disciplined team, ensuring that the right projects are delivered on time.

The Manufacturing SW Tools team are the critical link between the Satellite Design and the Satellite Manufacturing groups. They are the SME's and escalation point for manufacturing issues.

Success is measured in efficiency and quality improvements in the satellite build process that ultimately leads to more reliable in orbit assets.

The Technical Manager will be a hands-on leader of the team and be responsible for the development, progress tracking and deliverables of all Manufacturing Engineering SW Projects.

Candidates must have the following experience:

  • Proven track record in the on-time delivery of integrated internal software projects
  • Hands-on Software development experience – Predominantly Python
  • Ability to manage a cross-functional technical team
  • Ability to identify the correct path to success within time constraints
  • Day-to-day management of the team
  • Workload management and allocation of tasks
  • Data-driven decision-making skills with a focus on quality
  • Embedded Software Testing and Automation experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in relational databases
  • Development of the team through 1 to 1 coaching

Daily activities will include:

  • Python code development
  • Project proposal, scheduling, and status tracking
  • Maintaining team focus on project deliverables
  • Resource allocation for people and equipment
  • Interface with the Satellite Design team to integrate acceptance testing to the Spire Test Suite.
  • Participation in hardware design reviews.
  • Driving force for root cause analysis of manufacturing SW issues
  • Identification of opportunities for improvement
  • Peer code reviews

Strong candidates will also possess skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Excellent people management skills
  • Experience in implementing change in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Principles and Design for Manufacturing
  • Experience in a low volume/high complexity mfg environment
  • Wide-ranging software development experience, test suites, ERP, SQL, Docker, AWS
  • RF and Digital circuit design and test development
