Spire Global is a 160-person space data company founded in 2012. In less than six years, Spire has built one of the world's largest satellite constellations, and we're just getting started. Due to this continued growth, we are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Communication team in the Glasgow office.
The Systems Engineer will contribute to systems design, modeling, test, debug and evaluation of the satellite communication module and payloads.
Responsibilities of your role:
System design and implementation of free-space optical communication links and terminals.
System and subsystem level trade analysis on performance, time to develop and cost basis.
Define and track system requirements from initial use case definition to subsequent subsystem and component requirements derivation.
Define and maintain technical budgets (link, pointing, data budgets).
Signal performance maintenance, incident management and troubleshooting.
Develop systems documentation, test plans, specifications and operational procedures.
Provide technical consultancy support to software engineering, payloads, operations, and manufacturing teams
BSc, MSc or Ph.D. degree in systems engineering, satellite communication engineering, electronic engineering, physics, aerospace engineering or other relevant scientific or engineering area.
Around 2-5 years of relevant working experience with systems design/engineering
Experience within satellite communications or free space/ optical communication.
Experience in system definition at the data link layer and physical layer.
Proven track record of promoting cooperation and team-work.
Demonstration of problem-solving skills and solution-oriented approaches when dealing with challenges.
Flexibility to changing priorities and operational requirements.
Attention to detail, highly-organized with clear communication skills.
