Ground Station
Ground stations are vital for satellite data transmission; relaying the information collected by satellites in orbit requires ground stations to receive data packets.
Ground stations can uplink (transmit information to a satellite) or downlink (receive information from a satellite). Through building and maintaining its own network of ground stations to downlink data, Spire is in control of every step of the data collection and transmission process. In addition, the relatively minimal requirements to host a Spire ground station (an unobstructed view of the sky, reliable power, and an internet connection) allow for Spire ground stations to be located on every continent on the planet.
