We believe what’s good for the planet is also good for business

Our vision is to use the data from our constellation of satellites to help you build a climate-resilient world with unparalleled global coverage, especially in under-observed areas like remote regions and the open oceans.

We believe that access to accurate weather data helps people and businesses make informed decisions that reduce their environmental footprint and improve their overall well-being.

By providing reliable weather insights, we empower communities to prepare for extreme weather events and mitigate their effects. We are committed to using our expertise to make the world a better place, one data point at a time.

A legacy of innovation and scientific research

Over ten years ago, a group of college students were inspired by the nanosatellite – a small satellite no bigger than a wine bottle – to build and launch a network of listening satellites. With insights that were previously unattainable in aviation, maritime, and our atmosphere, our satellites can hear the heartbeat of our world like never before.

Over 10 years of research & infrastructure development

Our commitment to our planet began over a decade ago with an investment in building our technology infrastructure, our resources and our people.

We design, build and operate our satellites in-house at our manufacturing facility in Glasgow. Using radio occultation (RO) technology, the satellites collect thousands of atmospheric profiles every day. Our expertise in data assimilation and weather forecasting allows us to provide you, our customers, with advanced, accurate weather forecasts, that drives data-decision making, helping you to minimize the impact of weather on your business.

We have over 100+ machines in orbit with more than 550 years of spaceflight heritage across their cluster, launching new satellites with improved payload power every six months to a quarter.

Our combined weather experience, scientific knowledge, and robust satellite/space infrastructure enable us to generate accurate 15-day global weather forecasts for any point on the globe.

A leap forward in meteorology

At Spire, we strive to constantly innovate and elevate the science of weather forecasting. By leveraging our low-Earth orbit satellites, we are able to analyze GNSS signals that penetrate and refract through the atmosphere, enabling us to accurately measure critical atmospheric variables. This capability empowers us to generate precise weather forecasts that can provide your business with invaluable insights. These variables are crucial in building accurate global weather models and conducting climate studies.

Spire’s radio occultation (RO) technology has been trusted by leading weather service providers such as ECMWF, NOAA, and NCAR. In fact, studies conducted by these agencies have demonstrated the effectiveness of our RO data in improving weather predictions.

Spire’s expertise lies in providing high-quality initial conditions and data assimilation for weather forecasting using its very own proprietary Radio Occultation (RO) data. This allows for advanced, accurate weather predictions for any point on the planet. As the world’s largest producer of RO data, we ingest this RO data along with other data sets collected from our satellites and other sources into our proprietary global weather models, granting us the ability to generate accurate and precise 15 day weather forecasts globally.
