Commodity Buyer
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual for the position of Commodity Buyer out of our Boulder office, to join our expanding Procurement Team reporting to the Global Procurement Manager. You will be responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services that indirectly contribute to the satellite production, manufacturing facilities and support general business operations.
The successful candidate will have an unwavering attention to detail, a self-starter and motivated to drive North America-based projects and initiatives to completion.
Role Responsibilities:
- The Commodity Buyer will be responsible and accountable for all US & CA Indirect Procurement activities within Spire, working closely with the Global Indirect Category Manager.
- Responsible for purchasing activities for categories such as, but not limited to, IT equipment, software licences, marketing services, facilities management and support our Ground station activities through equipment and services.
- Responsible for the negotiation of contracts to add value through favourable payment terms and pricing alignment through cost-saving initiatives.
- Responsible for developing key sourcing strategies with internal stakeholder collaboration within the current and forecasted indirect commodity space.
- Management of manufacturing facilities development and fit-out in our Boulder, US and Cambridge, CA offices.
- Purchase Order creation, maintenance and expedition based on internal and external project-based requirements.
- Build and maintain external vendor relationships to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Support the development and reporting of departmental KPIs with a relentless focus on continuous improvement.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in a similar role within any industry.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Relevant Commodity Buyer experience, preferably in Indirect Procurement.
- Proven track record of leading sourcing projects or initiatives.
- Solution driven approach to daily operational issues.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Solid administrative skills with attention to detail and the ability to deliver against tight deadlines.
- Comfortable working as an individual contributor on your own initiative and self-motivated with a positive approach.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Experience with building and maintaining effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence to communicate at all levels within a culturally diverse workforce.
- Competent in MS Office, including Word, Excel & Power Point.
- Oracle Netsuite experience is a distinct advantage.
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Final base salary for this role will be based on the location, skills, experience and qualifications. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for annual equity awards and our employee benefits program, including vacation, sick, and personal time off; optional medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; a 401(K) plan; health and wellness reimbursement program; and participation in Spire’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
