Hardware Engineering Lead
Responsibilities of a Spire Hardware Engineering Lead
- Be in charge of the overall engineering developing of a Spire design
- Own electrical and mechanical design
- Own test plan development
- Drive prototyping and testing mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
- Help with preparation of detailed system documentation
- Providing production support to the manufacturing team
- Assisting other team members from multiple disciplines achieve their goals
Key skills
- Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Knowledge in electronics theory, including component knowledge and analogue and digital circuitry expertise
- PCB design experience including schematic capture, PCB layout using any enterprise software with focus on Design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Knowledge of High-speed digital layout design practices and signal integrity (matched impedance, stack up and manufacturing restrictions)
- Experience with digital communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, USB, LVDS, Ethernet etc).
- Experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, etc.
- Experience using mechanical CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks) and mechanical DFM
- Strong debugging experience and fault identification.
Preferred skills
- Experience with rapid prototyping
- Knowledge of RF theory/circuitry (Power amps, filters, layout etc).
- Knowledge of RF systems engineering
- Experience with environmental testing
- Basic software skills, familiarity with Linux, Python, scripting, testing automation etc.
- Thermal design experience
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in office.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Final base salary for this role will be based on the location, skills, experience and qualifications. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for annual equity awards and our employee benefits program, including vacation, sick, and personal time off; optional medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; a Registered Retirement Savings Plan; health and wellness reimbursement program; and participation in Spire’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
